UMC Foundation Welcomes Two New Leaders to Advance Its Mission

NEPTUNE, N.J.— United Methodist Communities (UMC), a New Jersey-based senior living and care organization, proudly announces the addition of two accomplished leaders to its Foundation team: Maureen Stern as Director of Special Events and Melanie Dixon as Director of Major Gifts. Both bring a wealth of expertise and passion that will strengthen UMC Foundation’s mission of providing abundant life for seniors through its housing communities and home care services.

Maureen Stern joins UMCF with nearly 20 years of experience in event management, fundraising, and communications. Previously, she served as Director of Media Services for the City of Des Plaines, Illinois, where she led external communications and events for a community of 60,000 residents.

“I’m excited to join the UMC Foundation team and look forward to shaping our events program to support UMC communities and the seniors we serve,” shared Ms. Stern. Originally from New Jersey, she is thrilled to return to her home state and contribute to the local community.

Melanie Dixon brings more than a decade of nonprofit leadership experience, including her impactful tenure at the American Heart Association. There, she spearheaded educational and fundraising initiatives, expanding community engagement and outreach.

“Joining a faith-based organization like UMC Foundation allows me to combine my passion for service with my dedication to supporting seniors. Compassion is at the core of everything I do, and I am eager to contribute to work that uplifts and empowers,” expressed Ms. Dixon. Active in the community, Ms. Dixon also serves as a board member and chapter historian for The Greater Princeton Drifters.

“At the UMC Foundation, our greatest strength is our team,” said Vice President Jim Roberts. “I am confident that under the leadership of Maureen and Melanie, our mission to provide abundant life and sustainable communities for seniors will continue to thrive and expand.”
