UMC operates one full-service Continuing Care Retirement Community (CRRC) and three full-service assisted living communities in New Jersey. Guided by our values of compassion, stewardship, service, and respect, dedicated UMC teammates at all four locations provide the highest level of assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and long-term care, and short-term rehab services. United Methodist Communities at Bishop Taylor is named in honor of the late Prince A. Taylor, Jr. who served as the New Jersey area’s first resident Bishop from 1964 until 1972. Opened in 1989, this senior housing community for low to moderate income adults is sponsored by Calvary-Roseville United Methodist Church, Christ Episcopal Church, United Methodist Communities, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Covenant Place brings to fruition the vision that Rev. Charles Miller (pastor emeritus) held for a large vacant plot of land next to the then First United Methodist Church of Plainfield. The Shores’ sister community, Wesley by the Bay offers affordable housing for senior men and women, age 62 and above, in Ocean City who qualify under the guidelines of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The beach, boardwalk, and downtown shops are only a short distance from the two-story community composed of 60 spacious one-bedroom apartments with individual washers and dryers, balconies, and private parking. Opened in 1998 in the heart of vibrant Red Bank, The Wesleyan residents enjoy local riverside parks, unique shops, theaters, antique malls, churches, entertainment, the YMCA, restaurants, cafes, and train station.
